Change Agents for Electric Castle 2016 Wanted

ECO volunteers wanted! MAINOI and Electric Castle are taking the ECO sustainability program of the festival further this year. After the success of our 2014 and 2015 programmes, we decided making this year’s program, named ECO Challenge, even bigger and bring the ECO site to the camping too, with an ECO cinema. For those of you who don’t know much about it, ECO Challenge is a project designed to raise awareness about climate change and to educate people about the importance of being eco-responsible.

This year we’re looking for a team of dedicated change agents, on both paid and unpaid positions, volunteers who share our vision and who are willing to be an active part of all of our eco-activities at the festival.

When and where?

The ECO-programme kicks off on 13th July for five days, throughout the whole duration of the festival, at the Banffy Castle from Bontida, Cluj. Our activity will take place:

  • in the festival area, with an HQ at the ECO Spot, and
  • in the Premium camping area, with an HQ at the ECO Lounge & Cinema.

We have available a set of roles to be filled in by enthusiastic ECO agents, depending on our necessities, your skills and time frame of availability. The shifts are 6 or 8 hours long, for 4 or 5 days, depending on the role played on the team. Each shift is supplemented by half an hour for eating/resting time and changes between shifts.

PAID positions:

1. Festival ECO Spot Coordinator: 

  • Manages the ECO Spot in the festival area;
  • Manages the subscriptions in the ECO-Game;
  • Manages the team of volunteers and paid interns;
  • Responsible for the schedule of the eco-spot;
  • Trains the volunteers and rewards them at the end of their shifts;
  • Allocate volunteers to tasks and team members as and when required;
  • Works closely with the other coordinators for the smooth management of the program;
  • Works together with the production assistant for a good supply management.

You need to complete five shifts of six hours (10.00-16.30 / 16.00-22.30 / 22.00-04.30 / 04.00-10.30) in five days (13-18.07). The program starts with the first shift of 10.00-16.30 on Wednesday, 13th July, and ends with the last shift of 04.00-10.00 on Monday, 18th July. Within this time-frame, you will be assigned to shifts according to the time of your arrival and departure.

2. ECO Cinema & Lounge Coordinator:

  • Manages the ECO Cinema & Lounge in the camping area;
  • The role requires technical skills related to managing video-projector, sound-system and video content management;
  • Manages the subscriptions in the ECO-Game for the actions that take place in the camping area;
  • Responsible for the schedule of the video projections;
  • Manages the team of volunteers and paid interns;
  • Trains the volunteers and rewards them at the end of their shifts;
  • Allocate volunteers to tasks and team members as and when required;
  • Works closely with the other coordinators for the smooth management of the program;
  • Works together with the production assistant for a good supply management.

3. GSM responsible:

  • Manages the charging deck (capacity of 50 devices);
  • Registers the participants, receives and returns the devices; 
  • Responsible for the devices given in his possession;
  • Works together with  a dedicated volunteer.

You need to complete four shifts of eight hours (10.00-18.30 / 18.00-02.30 / 02.00-10.30) in four days (14-18.07). The program starts with the first shift of 10.00-18.30 on Thursday, 14th July, and ends with the last shift of 02.00-10.30 on Monday, 18th July. Within this time-frame, you will be assigned to shifts according to the time of your arrival and departure.

4. Photographer: 

  • Part of the team managing the ECO Twister Game (at the festival ECO-spot);
  • Takes high-res photographs of the participants in the ECO Twister Game;
  • Works with his own equipment, external flash required;
  • Has a proven record in photography.

You need to complete four shifts of eight hours (10.00-18.30 / 18.00-02.30) in four days (14-17.07). The program starts with the first shift of 10.00-18.30 on Thursday, 14th July, and ends with the last shift of 18.00-02.30 on Sunday, 17th July. Within this time-frame, you will be assigned to shifts according to the time of your arrival and departure.

5. Eco-Ambassador coordinator: 

This role requires online activity before the festival (starting 5th of July), the coordinator must stay in touch with all the eco ambassadors, collect their photos and videos from the road, posts information about the campaign on social media;

  • On 12 of July must arrive at Baile Felix, from there (s)he will coordinate the cycling group of international Eco Ambassadors to Cluj, traveling with the group, not by bike but in the official car (13th July);
  • You need to have a driver licence and proved experience in driving, also you need to know how to ride a bicycle;
  • Coordinates the cycling group of all Eco Ambassadors and festival goers who come to Electric Castle, by bike, in the morning of 14th July, from Cluj to Bontida;
  • Is the liaison between the eco ambassadors and the eco management team throughout the duration of the festival;
  • Takes care of the eco-ambassadors group during the festival, keeps contact with them, brings them at the ECO spot when required for interviews, photos, special events.

Online activity: 5-11 July, On the road activity: 12-14 July, Festival activity: by request,  no shifts.

VOLUNTEER positions:

1. Production & Administrative manager: 6 h /day

  • Setting up the eco spot;
  • Administrates the eco-spots, taking care of all the prizes;
  • Manages the supplies;
  • Role specific for males or very  strong ladies, living nearby Bontida/Cluj;
  • Works closely with the project managers and the eco-spots coordinators;
  • You need to be a very good organizer, accountable, perfectionist and stress resistant.

You need to complete five shifts of six hours (10.00-16.30 / 16.00-22.30 / 22.00-04.30 / 04.00-10.30) in five days by choice (12-16.07 / 13-17.07 / 14-18.07). The program starts with the first shift of 10.00-16.30 on Monday, 11th July, and ends with the last shift of 16.00-22.30 on Monday, 18th July. Within this time-frame, you will be assigned to shifts according to the time of your arrival and departure.

2. Promoter:

  • Promotes the eco actions from the ECO Challenge Game to the festival participants;
  • Enrolls people in the ECO Game;
  • Subordinates to the ECO Coordinators;
  • Speaks English and Romanian fluently, loves to interact with other people, doesn’t mind repeating the same script for five days, has some ecology knowledge.

You need to complete five shifts of six hours (10.00-16.30 / 16.00-22.30 / 22.00-04.30 / 04.00-10.30) in five days (13-18.07). The program starts with the first shift of 10.00-16.30 on Wednesday, 13th July, and ends with the last shift of 04.00-10.00 on Monday, 18th July. Within this time-frame, you will be assigned to shifts according to the time of your arrival and departure.

3. Social media communicator

  • Prepares communication materials for online and social media;
  • Is a very active social media user, who likes producing original content;
  • Owns a laptop and can bring it to the festival;
  • Has a proven experience in writing, social media management and communication;
  • Works closely with the project managers.

You need to complete five shifts of six hours (10.00-16.30 / 16.00-22.30) in five days (13-18.07). The program starts with the first shift of 10.00-16.30 on on Wednesday, 13th July, and ends with the last shift of 16.00-22.30 on Sunday, 18th July. Within this time-frame, you will be assigned to shifts according to the time of your arrival and departure. Must be available online for a week of training and some work before the festival (5-12 July).

 

What’s in it for you?

The reward for working with us consists in receiving free entrance at Electric Castle Festival, free camping and the chance to promote your eco-ideas at the most exquisite festival in Romania. Each day, at the end of your shift, you will be given the pass for the next day of the festival. Besides, each volunteer (only non-paid positions) will receive a voucher per day for food and drinks.
